What should be done if fruiting false shiitake?

If false shiitake grow on shiitake logs, it indicates that the logs are not fully mature. In this case, you must stop spraying water on the shiitake logs to induce bud formation and instead continue to ventilate them for mycelium cultivation.

False mushrooms will consume the nutrients and moisture of the logs, which will affect the high yield and quality of the shiitake. Although false mushrooms will soften in the later stage, they are prone to growing green mold. If there are too many false mushrooms—covering the entire surface of the logs—those logs will basically not produce good shiitake and will have almost no yield. In such cases, you need to remove all the false mushrooms, re-cultivate the mycelium, and re-induce color transformation, which is extremely labor and time consuming.

Therefore, for shiitake mushroom varieties with a long mycelium age, it is crucial to fully mature the shiitake logs in one go. Never remove the bags or inject water in advance, as this will have a significant negative impact on the logs.
