Do Morels nutrient bags have to be sterile?
2025年5月24日
To prevent bags from bursting during sterilization, holes are punched in nutrient bags during production. Cooling, shipping, and cutting operations after sterilization will cause a large number of spores to invade. Therefore, the production of nutrient bags is different from that of edible fungus bags. It emphasizes superior culture rather than pure culture. The essential principle is: under bacterial conditions, the advantage of the growth rate of Morchella mycelium under low temperature conditions is higher than that of most other bacteria, and the culture medium is occupied as soon as possible, thereby reducing the risk of contamination. Generally, below 16°C is a safe temperature for the growth of nutrient bags (the temperature of the nutrient bags is controlled), because wheat grains are rich in nutrients such as sugar, and it is very easy for other bacteria such as Alternaria to occur under high temperatures. Some people have done statistics, and at least 50% of the nutrient bags will be contaminated when they are put into the field at 20°C. When the temperature reaches 25°C, it may cause comprehensive contamination.
