The function of shiitake logs basic moisture in mycelium cultivation
The function of shiitake logs basic moisture in mycelium cultivation
After each flush of shiitake is harvested, a certain amount of basic moisture is required during the period of mycelium cultivation for the next flush.
This basic moisture should be neither too much nor too little:
- If there is too much basic moisture, the shiitake logs will become soft, the mycelium activity will be poor. And if the mycelium not mature, Even after water injection, no mushrooms will flush.
- If there is too little basic moisture, the shiitake logs will tend to be too light, which will affect mycelium cultivation. After water injection, although more mushrooms may grow during fruiting, but they will be small, thin, and caps prone to open due to insufficient nutrition.
Therefore, after each flush, shiitake logs must not be cultivated too light. If the moisture supply is insufficient, the nutrient supply will also be inadequate, because the absorption and transformation of nutrients both require moisture. This is why, sometimes even with the same batch of shiitake logs, different people manage them, the yield and quality of shiitake can vary significantly.
